Michael L. Thornton of Minor Hill, Tennessee, Dies in Early Morning Single-Vehicle Crash in Limestone County, Alabama
Michael L. Thornton died shortly after 5 a.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, following a single-vehicle crash on Salem Minor Hill Road in Limestone County, Alabama.
Thornton was driving a 2015 Nissan Frontier when the truck left the roadway and struck a culvert near Gaston Hollow Road, about eight miles northwest of Elkmont.
Alabama Law Enforcement Agency troopers responded and pronounced Thornton dead at the scene.
Officials reported that Thornton was not wearing a seat belt and that no other vehicles were involved.
Investigators continue to review the vehicle, road conditions, and speed, while no additional findings have been released.
Family, friends, and community members across the Alabama-Tennessee state line now mourn Thornton’s sudden passing.
